Hundreds of thousands of billpayers could be eligible for up to £1,000 in compensation. Law firm Hayes Connor highlighted that only 300 of 270,000 who were victims of People's Energy data breach in 2020 are claiming compensation.

While the company itself fell in administration in 2021, people are still able to claim compensation. This is because administrators confirmed that there could be millions available to compensate those affected, even after four years since the breach took place. In total, victims could get up to £1,000 each for any emotional or financial strain experienced.

Richard Forest, Legal Director at Hayes Connor, says: "Joining the action claim is a smart way to pursue compensation without the usual stress or costs that often come with legal action. When you team up with other affected customers, your case becomes stronger, giving you a better chance of a successful outcome.
